Kyrsten Sinema was praised by Musk for acting in the “public interest”.

Arizona Sen. Kirsten Sinema made headlines on Friday after announcing she would leave the Democratic Party and register as an independent.

Twitter CEO Elon Musk applauded the lawmaker’s decision in a tweet Friday afternoon.

“Good for @SenatorCinema! I hope more of our elected leaders act independently, in the public interest,” he wrote.

LIBERAL MEDIA, DEMS TAKE THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY TO THE MOVIE: “IT’S GREAT AT THE WORST”

Sinema’s exit from the party comes days after Democrats won a narrow 51-49 majority in Georgia for incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock.

If Sinema already runs with Democrats like independent Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Angus King of Maine, the Democrats will retain the majority without needing the lopsided vote of Vice President Kamala Harris.

“One thing I’ve always admired about American lawmakers, at least historically, is that they sometimes vote against the party line,” he added in another tweet.

Sinema has often drawn the ire of progressives for his support of the filibuster and his bipartisan friendship with Republican leader Mitch McConnell.

Last year, left-wing activists dragged the senator into the bathroom after liberal media pundits pressured Cinema to sign President Biden’s $3.5 trillion “Build Better” package.

MSNBC hosts and liberal media commentators took to Twitter Friday to express outrage over the lawmaker’s decision, calling it narcissistic and “the worst.”

Former Democratic presidential candidate and congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard also drew backlash when she announced in October that she was leaving the Democratic Party to register as an independent.
