Liverpool Transfer News Roundup: Atletico Madrid star wants Anfield transfer, asking price for Xherdan Shaqiri, and more – August 5, 2021

Liverpool has been linked with several new signings this summer as they look to add new legs to their squad ahead of the new season. The club also plans to release a few members to make room for these potential newcomers.

On that note, let’s take a look at the last one Liverpool transfer news and rumors from August 5, 2021.

Saul Niguez wants transfer to Liverpool

Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez could be set to leave the club before the summer transfer window closes. The Spaniard is reportedly considering moving to Liverpool according to Caught offside.

The Reds have been linked with several midfielders this summer, but have yet to intensify their interest as Matchday 1 of the Premier League approaches.

Liverpool will have to pay around £ 35-40million to sign Saul this summer, a sum they can afford having sold off several of their fringe players in recent weeks.

Liverpool have set their asking price for Xherdan Shaqiri

Liverpool will only sell striker Xherdan Shaqiri for £ 12.75million according to Air sports. Shaqiri has only one year left on his current contract with Liverpool and will be allowed to leave if the club’s asking price is met.

The 29-year-old has been a key player for Switzerland at Euro 2020 and has shown that he still has a lot to offer despite a poor fate for Liverpool in the 2020-21 campaign.

With Harvey Elliot securing pre-season opportunities for Liverpool, it remains to be seen if Klopp will use Shaqiri next season.

The former Bayern Munich and Inter Milan player is linked with a move to Lazio this summer.

Liverpool could profit from potential sale of Luis Alberto

After pocketing £ 2million from the sale of Danny Ings to Aston Villa, Liverpool could receive higher fees if Lazio sell Luis Alberto this summer.

Liverpool inserted a 30% sell clause into the deal which saw Alberto join Lazio in 2016, and the Serie A side have put a price tag of around € 40m to € 50m.

If he left for an amount in that range, Liverpool could pocket between £ 8m and £ 12m which would be a welcome comeback.
