Play-by-player Matt Waszerian informed ESPN officials of his resignation from “Sunday Night Baseball.”
After four years with Alex Rodriguez, Wasserian wants to focus on new, pending deals with the MLB Network and potentially expanding his work on Angels’ regional telecasts.
“I decided to call it a ‘Sunday Night Baseball’ wrap,” Waszerian said when the post was reached. “I can’t do everything I enjoy with the MLB Network and the Angels, but I do get away with about 30 weekends a year.”
Wasserian, 54, worked for ESPN on Tuesday when the Red Sox beat the Yankees.
Prior to Tuesday, the Post reported that Rodriguez wants to return to ESPN “Sunday Night Baseball.”
Potential replacements for Wasserian include Boog Siambi, Carl Ravech, Jason Benetti, Michael Kay, Ryan Rukko and Dave Fleming.
