The Rams may not win on Sunday, but the Stafford family is hoping to pull off their alma mater victory Monday night.
Prior to the national championship game between Georgia and Alabama, Kelly Stafford, a former Bulldogs cheerleader, shared a throwback photo on Instagram during her college days with her future husband, Matthew Stafford.
“Defeat Bama. LFG !! # Gods, Kelly captioned the post, Which the couple’s daughters wore as Georgia cheerleaders.
Stafford debuted for the Georgia Bulldogs in 2006 and played for three seasons. He left school too early to enter the 2009 NFL Draft, where he was selected by the Lions as a whole.
Quarterback, now 33, married Kelly in 2015 and together they share four daughters.
Over the weekend, Stafford and the Rams earned the NFC West title despite a thrilling 27-24 loss to the 49ers. Stafford, who traded to Los Angeles last January, had three touchdowns and two interceptions in the game.
The Rams are now No. 1 in the NFC playoffs. The No. 4 seed and will face the fifth-ranked Cardinals next Monday.
