Megyn Kelly said ousted “Good Morning America” anchors TJ Holmes and Amy Robach made a “massive PR mistake” in response to the public disclosure of the affair that led to their exit from ABC.
Kelly then kills the pair. Photos surfaced of Robach leaping into Holmes’ arms in a PDA-laden hug in Los Angeles as they signed exit agreements finalizing their departure from the network.
“They don’t understand — nobody looks at her and says ‘true love,'” the media personality said on Monday’s episode of “The Megyn Kelly Show” on SiriusXM Radio.
“They cheated on their spouses. They cheated on their kids. Yes, it happens. It’s sad. Act like it’s sad. ‘I don’t think about anyone like that,'” Kelly added. I give nothing to whom I have hurt,’ stop offering.
Holmes and Robach have faced intense scrutiny since last November, when Page Six and other outlets revealed the marriage on “Good Morning America.” The co-anchors were engaged in a month-long affair. “I think they both could have come out, they could have said on the show the next day, ‘We’re very embarrassed. It’s true. It was a private matter that we wanted to deal with privately, given the fact that That we have children and we have spouses, but as the Daily Mail reports, we couldn’t. And we’re going to take a leave of absence to deal with that. And we hope that when we come back So we can earn your forgiveness and trust,” Kelly said.
“And then, lie down,” Kelly continued. “Stop with very clearly orchestrated photo events in South Beach, where they’re all kissing and making love to each other, while the spouses they cheated on are sad-faced with their kids. Wally is posting pictures, looking incredibly sad. It was a huge PR mistake. In my opinion, they 100% orchestrated it.”
Kelly expressed her belief that the couple’s behavior after the affair came to light played a key role in ABC’s decision to cut ties with them.
“I think there’s a very good reason they lost their jobs,” Kelly said. “I think it was two things — the ridiculous PR behavior they did after the scandal broke. They handled the media completely wrong, in my view. And number two, it came out that his ABC All others were alleged affair partners.
“I suspect they were in a position where, ‘What are you going to do?’ You’re going to fire a black anchor and you’re going to let a white one stay? That can’t be done. He had to go too,” he added.
