East Alabama authorities have arrested a man who killed a Montgomery man Sunday night, the Russell County Sheriff said Monday.
Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor said sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of a man who was shot about 10:37 a.m. Sunday night in the 500 block of Lloyd Street in Hartsboro.
Representatives on the spot found the suspect, a 24-year-old Montgomery man, inside a single bullet wound, Taylor said.
Taylor said another man from Montgomery, a former boyfriend of a woman who lived in the art, was arrested on murder charges in connection with the incident, the sheriff said.
Officials with the suspect’s ex-girlfriend and other witnesses said the suspect was “guilty in this case.”
Shortly after 2 a.m. Monday, the sheriff’s office received a phone call from East Alabama Medical Center, Taylor said, saying the suspect was in a hospital with a gunshot wound.
The suspect was treated and released from the hospital and sheriff’s deputies arrested him and arrested him after the murder, the sheriff’s office said.
According to Taylor, the investigation into how the suspect was shot is still under investigation, according to Taylor, who told officers he was driving a motorcycle while leaving the artifact complex where the murder took place.
The suspect is being held at the Russellville County Jail without bond.
