Deputy Nancy Mace, RS.C. drew attention on Tuesday for condemning violent rhetoric after a transgender rights witness called for violence against Supreme Court justices on Twitter.
Mace, one of the few Republicans at the House Oversight and Reforms Committee hearing, spoke with Alejandra Caraballo of Harvard Law School’s Cyber Law Clinic about the threat posed by anti-democratic extremist groups and their damage to American democracy.
He asked all witnesses if they considered violent rhetoric against government officials on social media to be a “threat to democracy.”
When Caraballo, a trans woman known as @Esqueer_ on Twitter, responded positively, Mace highlighted Caraballo’s violent rhetoric against Supreme Court justices following the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

They are pariahs. Because women.” Without their rights, these courts should never have a moment of peace in public.”

TWITTER ASKED TO ‘SPECIFY AWAKENING’: ‘REVEALS OF MARXIST OPPRESSION’
While Caraballo insisted that was not an “accurate characterization” of his tweet, Mays acknowledged that a June leak of the draft opinion overturning Roe v. Wade led to the arrest of a man for attempting to assassinate Justice Brett Kavanaugh. he emphasized.

Mace concluded by noting that threats to democracy can come from the political right and the political left.
“It’s clear to me that we need to call the threats to our democracy where they come from, whether they’re from the right or the left,” he said.
