New Man United interim boss Ralph Rangnick used the ‘spinning wheel’ to decide punishments in Leipzig

Ralph Rangnick once used the spinning wheel to determine the punishment of players at RB Leipzig, one of the endeavors to train at Tutu.

He comes to England with an impressive reputation in Germany, performing with the likes of Stuttgart, Hanover, Hoffenheim, Schalke and Leipzig.

The 63-year-old is portrayed as the godfather of GegenPressing and a football professor who has mastered the art of pressing.

He is a little disciplined, having introduced the spinning wheel during his spell in Leipzig.

This was their way of deciding how to punish, and some of the penalties were hilariously cruel.

Not to mention cutting grass on training pitches, from working in a club shop to serving food in a canteen.

Rungnick’s spinning cycle is a small insight into his management style, with the Germans signing him to coach in the Premier League.

When he signs his contract, he will play a consulting role for two years with the Old Trafford outfit.

Rangnick, however, will not be in charge this weekend against Chelsea.

Interim manager Michael Carrick, who oversees the club’s win over Villarreal on Tuesday, is set to take charge of the team at Stamford Bridge.

Asked about the prospect of working with Rangnik, the 40-year-old said: “My future is the next two or three days. I’m ready to see.

“It’s the right way to go about it. Football is that kind of business. You don’t know what’s around the corner at the best of times.

“All my energy and my mind this time of Sunday.”
