Nick Carter has been accused of raping an autistic underage fan in a new trial.
Shannon “Shay” Ruth, now 39, sued Carter alleging sexual assault. At a press conference with his lawyers a facebook live stream, she alleged that the Backstreet Boys artist raped her in 2001 when she was 17 years old.
“The past 21 years have been filled with pain, confusion, despair, shame and self-harm as a direct result of Nick Carter raping me,” the woman said at a press conference.
“Even though I’m autistic and living with cerebral palsy, I believe that nothing has affected me more or had a longer impact on my life than Nick Carter said.

“After he raped me, I remember him calling me a ‘backward b—-‘ and grabbing me and leaving bruises on my arm.”
The woman’s attorney, Mark J. Boskovich, said there are three other women whose allegations are included in the lawsuit against Carter.
“Nick Carter has abused women for a long time,” said Boskovich. “Shay is determined to bring Carter to justice. She believes other women are worth protecting.”

Earlier, Nick Carter was accused of raping musician Melissa Shuman. He denied the claim.

According to Ruth, she did not turn to anyone before because she believed that she might “end up in jail” for sexual assault.

This is not the first time Carter has been accused of sexual assault. In 2017, Melissa Shuman, a member of the pop girl group, also claimed that she was raped by the musician.
Carter denied the allegation at the time, saying, “Melissa never spoke to me while we were together or at any time because anything we did was not consensual. We continued to write songs and perform together. and I have always been treated with respect and dignity. Melissa has been very supportive both personally and professionally.”

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office declined to file charges against Carter for the alleged incident involving Melissa Shuman.

Prosecutors declined to file charges against Carter at the time because the statute of limitations had expired.
“The reporting party alleged that in 2003 she was the victim of a sexual assault by the suspect in her apartment…,” prosecutors said. “The statute of limitations expired in 2013. Therefore, an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the evidence is unnecessary and the matter is dismissed.”
Carter’s Aaron Carter once called Nick a “serial rapist” in a series of tweets and compared him to Jeffrey Epstein. At that time, the two had an argument.
Aaron was trying to mend his relationship with his brother just days before Aaron died on November 5th. He apologized to the pop star in a podcast interview at the time.

“Unfortunately, I tried to play God and protect Nick as a rape victim,” Aaron said during an appearance on the No Jumper podcast. “And, I want to apologize to my brother and tell you that I love you. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done that.”
