“I feel like I’ve gone to my woods and I’ve left the small town of Hollywood,” Cage says. “I don’t know why Rob gave up his stardom. It’s not fully explained, and I love that about the movie. But as far as I’m concerned, I don’t know if I’d like to go back or not. . I don’t know if I want to go and make another Disney movie. It would be scary. It’s a completely different climate. There’s a lot of fear.”
He hated working in moderation of commercial films
Cage initially lost interest in big-budget Hollywood films around the time he was working on Rock and con Air in the late 1990s. At the time, he faced significant pressure from the studio to deliver performances that were not authentic to him, causing a great deal of stress.
“When I was making Jerry Bruckheimer movies back-to-back, it was just a high-pressure game. There were a lot of fun moments, but at the same time, ‘We wrote this line. Have to say it this way’ ,” Cage said. I’d say, ‘I’ll do that but I’d like to try it that way,’ On independent films, you have more freedom to experiment and be fluid. There’s less pressure and there’s more oxygen in the room.”

Cage definitely has more freedom in his latest film, pigsNo matter how strange it may seem. To the average movie watcher, it’s incomprehensible why Cage would choose to star in such an obscure film, but for Cage, the film was the perfect opportunity to show his limits.
“I wanted to remind myself and perhaps some people in the audience or the media that I could also apply myself to a more calm and measured performance style,” Cage says. “I went for break form with this teardrop, almost on mission, film performance and what was considered good performance by being natural or photo-realistic or minimalist.”
