On Twitter, conservatives roasted Sam Brinton, the former assistant secretary of the Department of Energy for spent fuel and waste disposal, after he was fired by the US government for repeatedly stealing airport luggage.
Brinton, a biological male who gained notoriety as one of the first “non-binary” US government officials, was accused of stealing a woman’s suitcase at Minneapolis Airport in September and Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas in July.
One of the bags Brinton was seen on surveillance cameras stealing from the luggage in Las Vegas contained about $4,000 worth of clothing, jewelry and makeup.

After news of the allegations broke, a Department of Energy spokesperson told The Daily Beast, “Sam Brinton is no longer an employee of DOE. By law, the Department of Energy cannot comment further on personnel matters.”
Despite Brinton’s insistence that he is non-binary, the investigating officer was described in a warrant by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department as “a white male adult wearing a white T-shirt with a large rainbow colored nuclear symbol on it.”
Twitter users found the end of Brinton’s DOE career hilarious, joking that the former government employee had achieved a new milestone: “The first non-binary person to be fired by the US government for theft.”
On the Libs of TikTok account, Brinton’s best and most avant-garde images are combined with a sarcastic caption. The account read, “Biden’s non-binary nuclear waste guru Sam Brinton fired after 2 airport thefts. Wish there were warning signs…”
Conservative author Dinesh D’Souza mocked Brinton for his diversity, tweeting: “Is #SamBrinton the first non-binary official to be fired by the US government for theft? We’re following these amazing historic ‘firsts’ Since we’re going, I thought I’d ask about it.”

The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh offers an interesting analysis, writing: “Sam Brinton proves one thing: our anti-bullying campaigns are wrong. We tolerate people’s strange, strange behavior in the name of tolerance. we’re taught to behave normally, and as a result, boys like it. Brinton feels increasingly empowered to act unashamedly on their perverted compulsions.”
Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., offered his sober analysis of the ouster, tweeting: “Re. Sam Brinton, let’s call it what it is: an unfit man was hired for a top national security role because Admin prioritizes awakening over ability.”
Author and conservative Nick Adams mocked Brinton: “I hear Sam Brinton’s new pronouns won’t work.”
“Sam Brinton should never have been hired in the first place,” said Brigitte Gabriel, founder of ACT for America.
Blaze CEO Tyler Cardon mocked Brinton, saying, “Sam Brinton is the first openly gender kleptomaniac in federal government leadership. This is another historic achievement for the most inclusive administrator in US history.”
And former Trump adviser Katrina Pierson tweeted: “FINALLY! ‘Biden’s non-binary nuclear waste worker Sam Brinton is out of his job’. I wonder where he crossed the line for this Admin.”
