Pop star Zara Larsson’s take on talking in movie theaters gets roasted: ‘She deserves to be a flop’


Pop star Zara Larsson is getting roasted on Twitter for what is being called the “worst take ever” in movie theaters.

The criticism follows a TikTok video Larson recently shared discussing movies.

“People say, ‘Oh, if you want to talk during the movie, you shouldn’t go to the cinema…’ Lie,” he said during the video.

“If you want to sit still as a stone, go home, yes, sorry, I am that person, take me to jail, I will be disrespected every time. The movie, I will say many things during the movie.” he added.

Larson called for a change in the culture of silence in the cinema, saying that people should always be “chatty-chatty” there.

“Well maybe she deserves to flop,” one user tweeted.

Another wrote, “@ zaralarsson of course! If you want to shout and share an experience with a group of people (your friends) you should be allowed and able to do that. . . . at home. You should organize a movie night and invite yourself. Have friends over and don’t bother other people in public.”

Larson responded to the user’s tweet, writing, “Robin Ostlund [a Swedish filmmaker] Absolutely not,” and attached a screenshot with some of his remarks about experiencing the film with a group of people.

A third critic tweeted, “I’d love for @zaralarsson to understand the analogy that a movie theater is to a library as watching movies at home is to booking a club.”

Reuters journalist Samuel George Baugh came to Larson’s defense, tweeting, “Everybody’s canceling Zara Larson on tl right now… but I won’t stand for it. Zara Larson talks in custom movies.” Can. That’s fine. I’ll just buy another ticket.”

In another tweet in the thread, he shared a clip of actress Regina LeHall’s “Scary Movie” character Brenda Max being loud and boisterous in a movie theater, mocking the tweet saying, “@ Zaralarsson in the cinema.

Larson also took to Instagram to respond to the backlash he received for his comments on TikTok.

“I have to double down on the move because I think it should be, and I’m also comparing America to Sweden. In Sweden, sometimes going to a movie is honestly a little weird because no one is on it. Not laughing. No one yelling or reacting to funny, scary movies. No one’s doing anything. It’s just quiet and how are we all quiet in a room? Honestly, it’s a little weird,” she said. said
