Poppy has released a new single called ‘Her,’ which comes with an impressive, animated stop motion video – check it out below.
The new track, which comes weeks after the American singer-songwriter dropped a stunning new five-track EP, ‘EAT – NXT Soundtrack,’ is another stylistic pivot for Poppy.
Produced by Justin Meldl-Johnson, ‘Her’ hears Poppy on a more stream-lined songwriting approach, with his earworm melodies painted on a canvas led by a power pop guitar.
“I’m getting to know him / And all his anger / You wouldn’t recognize him / If you encountered / I’m getting to know him / And all his anger / Took myself / Put him back together,” Poppy sings on the song’s chorus.
The song’s video, which was created by stop motion animator-director Chris Ullens, who has worked with Rex Orange County and Lee Ann Womack, has a similar feel to the Tim Burton films. Nightmare before Christmas and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Poppy’s ‘EAT’ EP was released as part of an exclusive partnership between WWE and Sumerian Records, which comes after a series of performances commissioned by them. WWE NXT throughout the last year.
“Poppy has been a staple within NXT for nearly three years and her music continues to resonate strongly with our ardent NXT fanbase,” said WWE Music Group Senior Vice President and General Manager Neil Lowe in a statement. “Taking advantage of WWE’s global reach to release their new EP ‘Eat – NXT Soundtrack’ has again proved beneficial for both parties and we look forward to the future.”
Poppy revealed back in December that she had almost finished her next album, saying it had a “completely different sonic vibe” to her 2020 LP ‘I Disagree’.
She also said that the record was produced by an unnamed colleague whom she described as “someone I truly respect and have wanted to work with for many years”.
