A Portland mother has sounded the alarm about the fentanyl crisis after she found pills just steps from her front door.
Evelyn McPherson, a mother of seven, joined “Fox & Friends” on Tuesday to discuss why she connected the incident to the local homeless crisis and how it affects public safety.
“They’re forcing me to… kick me out of my house… I grew up down the street from here,” McPherson told host Ainsley Ehrhardt. “My parents still live five blocks from here, and I can’t live near my parents and I don’t feel safe. So it’s very frustrating.”

McPherson said she was out with her husband when she happened to see something in the family garden and when she went to retrieve it, it was a can filled with blue pills.
He said police later confirmed it was fentanyl, but it’s unclear how the deadly drug ended up on his doorstep.

“I don’t really know how it got there, but I think it has something to do with the camps that we have, both on one side and the other,” McPherson said. “We’re in the middle of two busy streets, and there’s a lot of drug dealing going on between those areas, and we’ve done a lot of camping. Unfortunately, we’re very close to the highway, and that’s why there’s a lot of camping around it. build.”
Following the incident, the county issued a statement: “Multnomah County policies do not encourage illegal drug use. Rather, Multnomah County policies and programs encourage drug users to get healthy.”
Still, McPherson isn’t convinced local government is doing enough to alleviate existing homelessness and drug problems.

“I think those are the words,” he said. “I think they say things like that. They don’t really have anything to motivate them. I think it’s just a way of silencing everybody and saying they’re just going to do what they have to do, but I think if if so, we’ll see results.”
McPherson also found needles on his property, had his car stolen and had to evict trespassers from his home.
