Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have opened up about the early stages of their relationship in a new Netflix documentary, Harry and Meghan.
The opening scene began with a note that members of the royal family “refused to comment” on what was seen in the series. Netflix also noted that all interviews with Meghan and Harry were completed in August, before Queen Elizabeth’s death.
The debut episode featured Harry at Heathrow Airport on the famous ‘Meghit’ day, when the couple stepped down from their royal duties in 2020.
“I don’t even know where to start,” Markle says, on the verge of tears, posing in California.

The prince revealed in the first episode that he met Markle in the summer of 2016 through Instagram. They had been “secretly” dating since July 2016, but didn’t go public with their relationship until that October.
Many of the couple’s friends, including Harry’s polo pal Ignacio “Nacho” Iglesias, appeared in the first episode and confirmed how “in love” Markle and Harry were from their first meeting.
The first episode of the documentary talks about Harry’s relationship with his mother, the late Princess Diana, and how he remembers his childhood being “inundated with paparazzi”.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were married on May 19, 2018.

Harry revealed that Diana was “cheated” in a famous Panorama interview, where he shared his experience as a member of the royal family. According to Harry, his mother was “harassed” when she was married to the current King of England – King Charles – but it only got worse after they divorced.
“Don’t react. Don’t feed him,” was the advice Harry had been given as a child on how to deal with the paparazzi.
The Duke of Sussex said the treatment his late mother received was similar to what his wife faced in the media.
Harry said he knew there were many who would not agree with him stepping back from royal responsibilities in 2020, but insisted he was “trying to protect” his family.
At the end of the first episode, Harry said that in October 2016 he entered into a public relationship with Markle “in a simple way”.

Ahead of the release of the highly-anticipated documentary, the couple have revealed years-old footage from the London premiere of Harry Potter after including a clip claiming Harry and Markle were harassed by paparazzi . before the couple met.

The Sun reports that photographers have indeed set their sights on the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 all-star cast in London’s Trafalgar Square. The incident took place in 2011, five years before the prince and the former American actress met in 2016.
On Tuesday evening, Markle and Harry attended the 2022 Wave of Hope Awards in New York City.
The couple stepped down from their royal duties in 2020 and moved to California to raise their son Archie and daughter Lilibeth.
The first three episodes of the series were released on Thursday, with Volume II debuting on December 15.
