Players of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege have found an experimental “rebuilt” HUD that can be enabled with command-line arguments.
Players can turn on the new HUD by adding “/revamphud” to the launch options in Steam or Ubisoft Connect. The new user interface is clean, but it also includes a large compass at the bottom of the screen. Users can disable it in the in-game menu.
Ubisoft changed the menu for Rainbow Six Sieges during the Y6S2 North Star update, but the in-game HUD was left untouched.
Ubisoft responded to the discovery saying on twitter, “Some of you smart people who think the team currently working on HUD, currently planned for the end of the year, “stumbled” into our very own WIP version of the work.
The company said it will not prevent players from using the compass, but it is likely to contain a bug.
Players have heavily criticized the compass for its size and how it shows all the bearings at all times, making quick reference difficult. However, Ubisoft has responded by saying, “Please note, we’ve already moved on from the big, flat compass, so no tension there.”
