MSNBC contributor Jason Johnson claimed Wednesday that Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., and “a lot” of Americans are “happy with black people being killed on a regular basis.”
Johnson made the incendiary accusation during a segment on “Deadline: The White House” in which the College Board revised its AP African American Studies curriculum to address controversial topics such as critical race theory (CRT), queer studies and feminism. Made black lives optional to remove
MSNBC anchor Nicole Wallace said the board appeared to be “simply intimidated by a single Republican bully,” namely DeSantis, although the head of the College Board told The New York Times that the changes were due to political pressure. Not done in response.
Related to the fight over CRT in schools after the death of Tyree Nichols at the hands of black police officers, Wallace said that “tightening what we teach” seems contrary to “what we as a country need to do.” What should be achieved.”
MSNBC Political Contributor Jason Johnson criticized those who want education reform against the CRT for being ‘happy’ when black people are killed.
Johnson responded by saying that maybe not what the country really wants because many people are happy when black people are killed.
“There are a lot of people who are perfectly happy with black people being murdered on a regular basis.” “Let’s be honest. They’re happy to see black people killed, or at least, I think the most charitable interpretation is that black people are being killed for them — politicians like Ron DeSantis. For, like politicians [Attorney General David] Cameron in Kentucky – The killing of black people is the cost of doing American business.

He then suggested that trying to prevent CRT from being taught in schools is not about protecting children, but about embracing their racist parents.
“They don’t care about teaching the real history of the country, and they don’t care about making students feel empathy for each other,” he said. “Nicole, here’s the thing, this isn’t about protecting children, it’s about protecting biased adults.”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced plans to reform public universities by banning critical race theory and investing millions of dollars in Sarasota’s New College. He expressed these views on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at the Bradenton campus of the State College of Florida.

Johnson continued, “It’s about adults who are afraid that their child is going to come home and say, ‘Mom and Dad, what did you do when X happened? Mom and Dad, I never learned that. My town used to be a black town. It was filled in by the state government. Mom and Dad, do you treat our neighbors like I read about in my book?’ That’s what they’re worried about. They’re worried about the next generation actually learning the truth of the story.”
He compared America to a slaughterhouse for African Americans that some are determined to maintain.
“While you and I and most civilized people on the planet want us to come together and acknowledge the universality of the fear of death and violence and everything like that, there are people who love America as a violent killing ground. do that it’s for black. bodies, and they don’t want anything to change that, and they certainly don’t want it to start in the classroom.”
After a fight with the White House over the ‘Wake’ curriculum, Decent’s teachers’ bill of rights was praised
DeSantis recently addressed those who argue that they are erasing black history by noting that clearly political elements are being added.
He criticized the changed AP course and warned of a political “agenda” at play.
DeSantis said, “This course on black history, what is one of the lessons? Queer theory. Now, who’s to say that an important part of black history is queer theory? That’s pushing an agenda.”
