Roy Keane explains why he detonated Harry Maguire, insisting he had no agenda against United the Skipper

Roy Keane has denied allegations that he has an agenda against Manchester United captain Harry Maguire following recent comments by the Irish.

Following England’s impressive 5-0 win over Albania earlier this month, Keane was criticized for Maguire’s ‘Fingers in Year’ goal celebration – defined as a blunt response to many of Defender’s opponents.

The 28-year-old has struggled for club form this season, which ended in sending a player against Watford last weekend.

However, Maguire’s celebration appeared to provoke a man who has won four Premier League titles as a United captain.

Keane previously branded the center-back a “shame” after scoring against lower Albania.

This was a take on the world of football, with some media advocating the right of the player to celebrate his or her choice.

Speaking about his often jagged style, he told the Times: “I think 95 per cent of my scholarship is positive.”

“I have criticized some players for the past or two years if they played badly or didn’t do their job. People don’t care.

“Then you have Maguire or A [Harry] Kane, and it’s like, ‘Ah, that’s not acceptable.’

“So if I slag Tottenham right-back, no one will mention him. But you can’t say that about Harry. Why not? Didn’t you see the game?”

Keane claims that his grip with Maguire is not revenge and that it is solely about performance.

The former Sunderland manager added: “I try to be honest. I don’t mind a player being good, but not bad.”

“Players can have a drop-off after being involved in Euros,” Maguire said. [Declan] There is no drop-off for rice.

“Players can have a drop-off but don’t go from there.

“I have no agendas. I don’t know Harry Maguire. I don’t know his agent. I don’t know anyone’s agent. I don’t have an agent.”

Many have questioned whether players like Maguire and teammate Luke Shaw are back soon after the Euros, as they have not been able to replicate their best form so far this season.

As for Kean, don’t expect the allegations of ‘bullying’ by some of his peers to be used by iconoclastic scholars any time soon.
