Senator Kirsten Sinema set Twitter ablaze over the bright yellow dress she wore to President Biden’s State of the Union address on Tuesday — with social media users mocking the flamboyant outfit choice.
The slinky high-waisted dress with giant ruffle sleeves jumped into a sea of congressmen in black and navy business attire, and many on Twitter said it was clearly an attention-grabbing stunt.
Twitter user Jason Richter wrote along with a screenshot of the C-SPAN broadcast, “Kristen Sinema… her colleagues.
And got the legislator’s attention.
“Why did Kristen Cinema?” [sic] Wear his Big Bird floaty to the State of the Union? Was she expecting the water to come off?” asked Roger ZenAF in a tweet.
Another Twitter user also compared her look to the Sesame Street character.
“Not sure about the outfit Kristen Sinema decided to wear to the State of the Union speech,” Roshan Rinaldi captioned a photo of Big Bird sitting among guests in an auditorium.
Others saw a different children’s television show character in the cinema’s choice of clothing.
“Who wore it best? Custon Sinema or Lala [sic]? Jennifer Theot tweeted, referring to the yellow Teletubbies.
The shocking color wasn’t the only notable feature to stand out.

Twitter users also poked fun at the dress’s large sleeves.
“Were Airbags on Kristen’s Cinema Dress Deployed During the State of the Union?” tweeted user Gabby Sanchez.
Others theorized that the former Democrat turned independent was simply a mistake.
“Kristen Sinema got confused and thought it was the Grammys,” joked author Leslie Abravanell.
Former California congressional candidate Dara Faye added a joke to the awards show.
“‘I’m just honored to be nominated.’ -Kristen Sinema on her State of the Union nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Live Circus Performance,” she tweeted.

The bold style of cinema is known to turn heads in DC. She has worn colorful wigs, floral ’50s-style dresses, knee-high boots and even a denim vest in the Senate chambers.
The Legislator’s style isn’t for everyone, but it seems to interest some users. In addition to her job in public service, Sinema reportedly runs a side hustle, selling some of her used items like high heels on Facebook Marketplace.
Sinema wasn’t the only member of Congress to be mocked on social media for his State of the Union attire.
Twitter users also got some jabs at Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green, who wore a cream coat with a fluffy, fur collar.

Marjorie Taylor Green and Kristin Sinema [sic] Looks like a comic relief villain in a 90s Final Fantasy game,” tweeted MSNBC producer Manny Fidell.
Many people said that Taylor Green’s look reminded them of Cruella de Vil, the villain from Disney’s 101 Dalmatians.
“I’m sure Marjorie Taylor Green plans to get out of Biden’s State of the Union early so she can go home and steal more Dalmatians.”
