Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Apollo Crews to win the WWE Intercontinental title on August 13 SmackDown. About 100 days have passed since the award was won. Nakamura has defended the belt only once on television since becoming champion.
Pointed out the strange statistic @Resol Features On Twitter. Knowing that defenses were rare, many fans were shocked to learn the exact depth of the lack of television matches. This is a really breathtaking number, staring at everyone’s face even if it’s there.
“Shinsuke Nakamura won the IC title in August. In the 93 days since winning the title, he has defended it once on WWE TV. Why do they always book their IC / US title?
Nakamura alone defended the IC title in a rematch against Cruise on September 24 on SmackDown. Since then, it’s been home shows or nothing. In modern wrestling, unless there is a title change, home appearances don’t really count. So, they’ve only got one defense since they won the list.
In addition to the IC title, Nakamura is the decorated champion in the WWE. He is a two-time United States Champion. He has smackdown tag titles with Cesaro. He also won two NXT titles and a Royal Rumble win.
This is Shinsuke Nakamura’s second reign as Intercontinental Champion. He defeated Finn Balor at the Extreme Rules 2019 PreShow to win the title for the first time. It definitely makes sense to do something with the title if they’re going to keep it around.
