Sioux City man pleads guilty to casino fraud at Hard Rock


SIOUX CITY () – A Sioux City man has pleaded guilty to casino fraud charges at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

According to the Iowa Department of Public Safety, 57-year-old Dajo Alvin Grandberry pleaded guilty to fraudulent betting claims and intent to commit a felony.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Aug. 7, 2022, at the Hard Rock Casino in Sioux City. Authorities say Granberry won a slot machine jackpot and tried to legally claim the winnings in an attempt to avoid paying the offset funds to another person. State owes Iowa. Granberry reportedly solicited another person to help complete the fraud attempt.

Granberry was arrested on November 30, 2022, and pleaded guilty to both charges on February 2, 2023.
