She had previously said the divorce took effect after she decided the marriage was over. Brown is no longer a member of the Mormon Fundamentalist faith and was never legally married to Cody.
“Because I didn’t have any legal contract binding me with Cody, there was no legal process we had to go through,” he explained.
After leaving polygamy, Brown moved to Salt Lake City with her daughter, Truely.
At the time of their split, Cody took to Instagram to say that Brown’s “decision to leave came with great sadness.”
Brown insisted that he would “be monogamist from now on.”
According to People, Cody is survived by one wife, Robyn. The couple has been legally married since 2014. Earlier this month, Janelle opened up about her split from Cody during a special episode of Sisters: One of a Kind. Mary said their relationship broke up after years of no sexual or romantic involvement.
