Representative. Rashida Tlieb, D-Mich., Revealed in a new interview that, perhaps unconsciously, she acknowledged that she did not necessarily support the details of a bill passed last year that would repeal federal prisons over a 10-year period. Some people rightfully belong behind bars.

At one time Interview With Axios reporter Jonathan Swan on Monday, Thlib was pressed for his support The Breathe Act, Which calls on the Justice Department and the Department of Health and Human Services to create a “roadmap for prison abolition,” including “the complete decarriage of federal detention facilities within 10 years” and “the creation of immigration and youth detention, including the ban on all new federal prisons and prisons.”

“To what extent have you struggled with releasing every single person currently in federal prison for any potential harm to society?” Swansa asked the congressmen.

“Yeah, I think everybody’s like, ‘Oh my god, we’re going to release all of them,'” Tlieb said. “That’s not me -“

“That’s what the law says,” Swan protested.

“Yeah, but you’ve seen how many people in prison right now are mentally ill,” Tlieb argued.

“No, I know,” Swan said. “But the act you passed says it will release everyone in 10 years.… There are human traffickers, child sex. [predators]. You mean you don’t really support it? Because you approved the bill.

Tlieb continued to argue that many prisoners were mentally ill or struggling with drug problems and that those people should be rehabilitated rather than imprisoned.

“Why don’t you ask me about them?” She asked. “You’re asking me about human traffickers and others. It should be able to be held accountable.”

“What I’m trying to understand is, your proposal is too wide,” Swan said. “It releases everyone.”

“Oh, yes, in 10 years,” Thlib responded. “Obviously there is a process of looking at how we can get out of mass incarceration and move on to care first.”

“Do you believe there are categories of people who should still be behind bars?” Swan asked.

“There are absolutely,” Thlib replied. “I don’t think there is any rehabilitation going on right now for people with mental health problems.”

“Do you think all people can be rehabilitated?” Swan asked.

Tlieb replied, “I don’t think so.

“I have to look at each case separately and find out everything,” he later added. “Not everyone in prison is the same.”

Thlib’s comments are sen. Lindsay Graham, RSC’s attention, pulled out a tweet thread, saying that the Congresswoman’s proposal was a more “radical” implementation of “Police Defend.”

“Oddly enough, a congressional woman is having a tough time convincing Congress to follow her lead in vacating tlieb prisons,” the senator wrote. “However, the Taliban jumped on all this idea. The first thing they did when they conquered Afghanistan was to empty all the prisons, including the release of terrorists.

“What could go wrong?” He asked. “And why didn’t the media bring this offer during the 2020 presidential campaign?”
