According to many reports, the Carolina Panthers traded star cornerback Stefan Gilmore.
Gilmore, 31, was surprisingly released by the Patriots early Wednesday morning after two sides were unable to come to a restructured agreement. After the announcement, however, Carolina snatched him up before he was waived.
The Panthers sent a sixth-round pick in 2023 as a relief, a Press release from the team.
Gilmore was the Defensive Player of the Year in 2019 with the Patriots, but suffered a quad injury in 2020 that prevented him from starting for 2021. He’s on the PUP list, but deserves to be out of it after week 6.
The Panthers lost their first-round draft pick corner back Jaycee Horn in Week 3 with a broken foot. .
