Formal charges have been filed against a 20-year-old youth in the fatal shooting of another man during an Alabama vs. Texas A&M game dispute.
Emanuel Tolbert III has been charged with murder in the murder of 27-year-old Keeland Amad Pickens. He is not yet in custody.
Saturday night’s game was in its final minutes, when Bessemer police disputed a meeting in the 1000 block of Sixth Avenue North.
Lt. Christian Clemons said witnesses said the argument was focused on which team was better. The brother of the owner of the house asked the two men to go because they had quarrels.
Once outside, he was shot, and Pickens was fatally shot. The shooting started just before the game was over.
“This is another case,” Clemons said, “resorting to violence to deal with differences.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Bessemer Police at 425-2411, Tip Line 205- 428-3541 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
