Braxton Berries has a reason for the Fiesta.
While on a vacation in Mexico with his girlfriend Sofia Kalpo, Jets Kick Returner learned on Friday that he was named First-Team All-Pro by the Associated Press. Berrios led the NFL with 30.4 yards per kickoff return and picked up one 102 yards for a touchdown in a win over the Jaguars.
With the caption “Someone is shocked,” Kalpo posted a video of Berrios looking into space on his Instagram account. He wrote on his Twitter account, “What an incredible honor. I have no words other than to thank my teammates who made this possible. You can’t do this without them !!”
Berrios received 27 of the 50 first place votes. He received two first place votes as a punt returner, but went to the Ravens’ Devin DuVernay. After a good time surge to finish the season as a receiver, Berrios becomes a free agent in March.
The Jets’ last first-team All-Pro 2019 safety was Jamal Adams. Maybe he’s becoming a Kick Returner Factor, because Andre Roberts earned top honors for the Jets in 2018. Defensive tackle Landon Collins and defensive tackle Damon Harrison were selected in 2016 as a pro.
