The robbery of an elderly Chicago woman at gunpoint was caught on camera

An elderly woman was robbed of her purse at gunpoint Wednesday morning on Chicago’s North Side, and the crime was caught on camera.

According to police, the incident occurred around 11:20 a.m. The female victim was walking on the sidewalk with her dog when an unknown man got out of his vehicle, pulled out a gun and demanded her belongings. This is reported by FOX 32 Chicago.

On surveillance footage, the suspect can be seen grabbing the woman’s purse before taking off in a blue Honda CRV.

“It’s a strange feeling of fear in your neighborhood,” the victim’s son-in-law, Mike Walker, told FOX 32. “She’s a fun lady. She jokes that she’s spent 70 years of her life without a gun to her face. She’s in a good mood, but she’s shocked.”
