The WWE Survivor Series is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of The Rock’s debut in WWE. The show thought it should include Dwayne Johnson, but he never showed up. Fans have only received a few video packages and paid advertising for Rocky’s latest Netflix movie Red Notice.
“In July, I was told that pay-per-view Johnson would be centered around Brooklyn, New York. Amid much publicity for their new Red Notice film on Netflix, the 25th anniversary of their WWE debut in New York City, the second on NBC’s renewal of Young Rock and the documentary series on brutal aggression. Between the season, the timing was perfect. […] At the end of September, the same source informed me that Johnson would not be in the Survivor Series as he had to quarantine his filming schedule and travel. However, there is still a financial obligation to pursue a film promotion project without Johnson, which we saw last night. The basic concept is the same, minus the Johnson’s.
WWE fans were obviously disappointed to see a show written about The Rock being there. He wanted to honor the legend, not the commercials of vignettes and angle disguises. Unfortunately, they will have to wait even longer.
Johnson’s appearance may have wiped out the bitter taste of Battle Royale, sponsored by Tacky Pizza Hut, from fans’ mouths. Instead, the funny taste comes from the triple-stacked box of pizza. Despite the unrest of fans, WWE continues to raise money.
