After their dramatic win over England in the Euro 2020 final, Italian players arrived home with the team in a celebratory mood early on Monday.

Luke Shaw’s opening opener was canceled out in the second half by a close-range finish from Leonardo Bonucci, before the game went into penalties and the Italians kept their nerves.

Three English players – Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka – missed spot-kicks as Italy won at Wembley and the entire team headed back to Rome shortly after their victory – and celebrations were in full swing.

Manager Roberto Mancini and captain Giorgio Chiellini lifted the trophy, as Bonucci was in a party mood as the team returned to Rome’s Parco dei Principe hotel as they exited the plane.

The players were screaming with joy as they returned to the Italian capital, as the squad and staff went straight home after their famous victory in London.

Center back partners Bouncy and Chiellini also erupted in joy as they took a selfie inside the hotel with the Henri Delaunay trophy.

Mancini praised his Italian team for dominating England in the final after falling behind early on.

Italy’s boss cried after the shootout win and said Rai Sport: ‘He did well. We accepted the target straight away and fought, but then dominated from there to the inside.

“We are glad that we played well by winning the match. I hope the supporters are celebrating now.

The entire squad was greeted by hundreds of fans outside their hotel in the Italian capital following their first major tournament win since winning the World Cup in 2006.

Later, goalscorer Bonucci shouted at the TV camera a message back home in protest against England’s famous ‘It’s coming home’ song: ‘It’s coming Rome!’ With the defender in a winning mood after Sunday night’s win.

The Juventus defender also later said: ‘You all still have to eat a lot of pasta,’ referring to the English fans.

He continued: ‘They wanted to bring the Cup back to England but we are the ones who will take it to Rome by plane.’

Bouncy also described how irritable he was even during the Italian national anthem before the game, adding: ‘We were stronger, louder than the noise of the whistle.

‘During the warm-up I said to all my teammates: Let’s close our ears and play as we know.

“This team hasn’t lost in 34 matches, we are a great team. It’s an absurd pleasure… we’re having fun with it’.

Italy celebrates after its first European victory since 1968, while England’s wait for victory in a major tournament continues.
