The Weeknd has responded to recent rumors about reshoots on his upcoming HBO Max series, The Idol. In a recent interview with Variety, the singer and actor explained that the reshoots were simply a scheduling issue and nothing to be concerned about.
According to The Weeknd, the initial shoot for The Idol was completed in late 2021, but due to his busy schedule with his music career, the reshoots had to be pushed to a later date. The reshoots reportedly took place in April 2022.
The rumors about the reshoots began circulating after a report from Page Six claimed that there were “creative differences” between The Weeknd and the show’s creator, Sam Levinson. However, The Weeknd dismissed those rumors in his interview with Variety, stating that he and Levinson had a great working relationship.
The Idol is a drama series created by Sam Levinson, best known for his work on the hit HBO series Euphoria. The Weeknd stars in the lead role as a pop star who becomes the subject of an obsessive fan’s dangerous fixation.
The series was originally set to premiere in 2022, but it is currently unclear if the reshoots will affect the release date. However, The Weeknd assured fans that the final product will be worth the wait.
“I’m really excited for people to see it,” he said in the Variety interview. “It’s something that I put a lot of time and energy into, and I think it’s going to be really special.”
As of now, there is no official release date for The Idol on HBO Max, but fans can look forward to seeing The Weeknd in this new acting role in the near future.
