VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Virginia Beach Police are investigating comments made on social media that led to violence against members of the local school board.
The comments were posted on TikTok in response to a video that the Virginian-Pilot reports last week about board members not wearing masks at their annual retreat.
Spokesperson Natalie Allen says they were notified to the district’s Safe Schools Department late last week, and then shared with city police, which is the district’s standard protocol for reporting any threats.
School board chair Carolyn Rye says a citizen told her about the comments.
