Tiger Woods’ famous resilience comes from realizing he’s “never out of a fight,” Link Legend tells actress Jada Pinkett Smith in a newly released video — a day after her career-threatening car accident in California Filmed first.
Golf digest web series first episode “A Round with Tiger” Released Tuesday, Woods, 45, featured Pinkett Smith giving hints about his game and reflecting on life at Golden State’s Rolling Hills Country Club.
“I’m always fighting and I’m always trying to be better,” Woods told 49-year-old Pinkett Smith about his determination to come back from a series of both golf-related injuries and personal turmoil. When asked, as in 2009 the reputation tarnished extramarital affairs were revealed.
“That’s all I know,” he continued. “I feel like I’m never out of a fight in that regard. I’m always pushing.”
But Woods said in a polite tone as Pinkett Smith spoke about her impossible win at the 2019 Masters – her first major championship in 11 years.
“Your last masters that you won, will [Smith, Jada’s husband] Calls me and he says, ‘Abhi TV churro karo, Tiger is going to create history,'” Pinkett Smith recalled. “I get so emotional just thinking of all this. I’m like, ‘Tiger’s back! He did!'”
Woods replied, “I don’t see it that way.”
Woods later elaborated in the 23-minute episode, when Pinkett Smith again tried to praise him for his determination.
“I don’t see it that way,” he said. “I don’t know how. … I just watch the fight.”
On February 23, a day after filming the episode, Woods was involved in a single-vehicle accident that saw him rolling a 2021 Genesis GV80 SUV off a winding road and into a tree.
Woods, who according to officials was traveling at 87 mph when he lost control from the luxury ride, underwent emergency surgery to repair the massive leg injuries sustained in the smash-up.
Medical experts have speculated that serious injuries could eventually put an end to Woods’ storied golf career.
The video began with a message wishing Woods.
“The series was filmed on February 22, 2021, the day before Tiger Woods’ car accident,” it read. “We are sharing this content with the blessings of Tiger and his guests. We thank everyone for their participation and wish Tiger a speedy recovery.”
