Police search for ‘armed and dangerous’ gunman after four wounded in Texas
A gunman is suspected to have shot and killed several people at a Texas high school Wednesday Taken into custody, Police say.
Timothy George Simpkins, 18, surrendered to police shortly after 2 p.m.
Mr. Simpkins has been charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
Arlington Police Assistant Chief Kevin Colbey announced his arrest at a press conference.
Mr Simpkins got in touch with detectives through a lawyer and went to the police station himself, police said.
The gun involved in the shooting, the .45 caliber handgun, was recovered from the Grand Park Prairie England Parkway.
The gun is turned over to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to run ballistics.
Three people were taken to hospital after the shootings, two with gunshot wounds and one with minor injuries.
A 15-year-old male was in serious condition as of Wednesday afternoon.
One male, 25, and a teenage girl are described as in good condition. A fourth victim has been treated in the incident.

Reports have surfaced that several people were injured in a gunfight at Timberview High School in Arlington, Texas.
NBC5 The local school district has written to parents to say the school is on lockdown, and police are investigating an “active shooter situation” at a high school.
Mansfield Independent School District told parents that students and staff are currently locked in their classrooms and offices.
Arlington police and neighboring law enforcement agencies are responding to the incident.

Authorities say it is still unknown what type of gun was used in the shooting.
Agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said that once they find out what kind of gun they are, they will work on locating the weapon to determine its source.
