Tips for Prepping Your March Madness Bracket

March is just around the corner and we all know what that means for college basketball. Teams around the country are preparing to find out whether or not they’ll get the coveted invitation. Now, what that means for bettors is that they’ll begin to fill out their March Madness brackets. If you need help with yours or are unfamiliar with the process, don’t worry we’re here to help.

We’ll start by explaining what the March Madness bracket is for bettors and how you can get involved. From there we’ll look at the best teams that you should have moving forward when you fill it out. We’ll explain the process and how it works for bettors so you have a full and complete understanding. So, let’s get you started on building the best March Madness bracket.

March Madness, How Does it Work?

For starters, you need to know when the tournament actually begins. Selection Sunday, where teams are chosen for the tournament, is on March 13th, 2022. You can watch the coverage yourself on ESPN. Here’s a schedule that should help you out when it comes to keeping track of all the action:

  • Selection Sunday: March 13
  • First Four: March 15-16
  • First round: March 17-18
  • Second round: March 19-20
  • Sweet 16: March 24-25
  • Elite Eight: March 26-27
  • Final Four: April 2
  • NCAA championship game: April 4

This tournament decides who will be the NCAA Champion by a process of elimination. Teams compete in “sudden-death” games. If you win, you get to go on to the next game, lose and you’re eliminated. It’s a simple process that ensures an exciting and eye-catching tournament. Needless to say, there isn’t a dull moment during March Madness.

Building your March Madness Bracket

This is where bettors and fans alike come together to build their own March Madness bracket. You’ll get to choose your own teams that you feel will move onto the next round. Be careful to not just choose favorites as the underdogs are just as likely to shock the world. Last year, the Baylor Bears won it all and cut down the net at the end of the year.

There are multiple sites and betting platforms that allow you to build your own March Madness Bracket. ESPN.com is among the most popular and it’s perfect for fans since you don’t have to spend any money. Oftentimes, you can get a group of friends together, build your own March Madness brackets and see who does best. These brackets will be available on March 13, 2022

Which Teams Should you Have Moving Forward?

This is a great question considering the teams are still fighting for their spot. However, there are a few teams that are all but guaranteed to be selected. One of these teams is last year’s champion, the Baylor Bears. Currently, the Bears are ranked at No.2 in the South, they could face Texas State in the First Four. If they do, we’d definitely have them moving forward.

Here are the top ten favorites to win the NCAA Championship:

  • 1 Gonzaga +900
  • 2 Baylor +1000
  • 3 Florida State +1200
  • 4 Michigan +1200
  • 5 Ohio State +1400
  • 6 Villanova +1400
  • 7 Kansas +1800
  • 8 Duke +2000
  • 9 Houston +2000
  • 10 Illinois +2000

Keeping an eye on who leads their conference is a smart move. According to ESPN.com, Memphis, Michigan, San Diego State, and Florida are who they think will be the first four out. You don’t have to use these recommendations, but it could help if you aren’t familiar. Purdue is also a very popular team right now, No.2 in the Big Ten, be sure to keep an eye on them.

Risks of Betting on an Entire March Madness Bracket

As with all betting, you’re taking on risks. However, a March Madness bracket works differently. You could pick all of the games right aside from one and lose the entire bracket. This is why we encourage bettors to take the time and research each team.

As long as you do the research, you should be able to make a solid March Madness bracket. However, picking all of the games correctly is quite an undertaking. In closing, have fun building your bracket, just don’t bet the house on it.
