A tornado ripped through the Louisiana town of Keithville on Tuesday night, killing three people, including a young boy and his 30-year-old mother, who was initially reported missing.
According to the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, the missing mother was found dead at 2:27 a.m. in the Pecan Farms area of Keithville, just one block from where her home was destroyed.
It was located under the debris caused by the tornado. First responders will continue to search for unknown victims,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. No one else was reported missing in the storm.
Deputies initially responded to Lareta Street in Pecan Farms after reports of a tornado. According to the agency, several structures in the area were damaged, power lines and trees fell.

After searching for the missing child and mother, the sheriff’s office reported that an 8-year-old boy was found dead in a wooded area of a Pecan farm where a house was destroyed. Deputies, K-9 teams, firefighters and volunteers were still searching through the wreckage for the mother.
Another death has also been reported, but the sheriff’s office has not yet identified the person.

Also, one man and one woman were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. Deputies in Caddo Parish are going door-to-door checking on residents, the sheriff said.
Caddo Parrish Fire District Four posted the following statement on Facebook Wednesday morning:
“Please keep our first responders and community members in your thoughts and prayers as an absolutely devastating tornado hits the south side of the parish tonight.”
Louisiana news agencies reported about 25 injuries in Union Parish after a tornado hit Farmerville Tuesday night. No casualties were reported.

The deadly Louisiana tornado was part of a series of severe weather moving eastward across the United States that produced tornadoes in southern states and hurricane-like conditions from the Midwest to the Northeast.
Earlier in the day, the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, Texas, confirmed five tornadoes in the northern part of the state, but there were potentially dozens.
At least five people were injured after a possible tornado hit the Dallas suburb of Grapevine.

The threat of severe weather continues for Mississippi, Alabama and the Florida Panhandle through Wednesday, according to the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma.
