Social media users were shy and joking after President Biden spoke on Wednesday that, once again, the Rose Garden was in full bloom, featuring a digital monitor from a fake White House set.
“The reason Biden uses this bizarre virtual set for television meetings — and not the real room like the East Room, the cabinet, the oval, the Roosevelt, the sitting room, etc. — is because it allows him to read the script directly from the monitor on the face.
Biden uses video conferencing and online broadcasts for a video set built across the White House in the South Court Auditorium in the Eisenhower Executive Office. The same set was used to show Biden receiving the third dose of the Feder / BioTech Covid-19 vaccine, including professional monitors and lighting.
“The Truman Show Presidency,” criticized Jack Posobiek, senior editor of Humanitarian Events.
“Will they not let him in the actual White House?” New Hampshire journalist Kimberly Morin wondered.
“It’s just a normal thing,” Fox 19 anchor Tricia Mackay asked. “I saw pictures of the set when they got the booster shot. I didn’t believe it was true.”
Asked by conservative commentator and podcast host Benny Johnson, “Why does Joe Biden feel the need to use a fake White House across the street from a real white house?”
“Why did the White House literally create a game show with fake windows for Joe Biden,” asked Abigail Marone, press secretary of Missouri Republican Sen. Josh Hawley. “Very strange.”
LBL columnist David Marcus wrote in a tweet, “Remember the Trump green screen scandal?
The set, which includes a small seating area for press members and others attending events, hosts virtual meetings for Biden and other members of his administration.
In addition to Biden, United Nations Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen were photographed using the set alongside the president.
