Lionel Messi and Argentina allowed a waste in the second half
The second half started much brighter for Los Cafeteros. Nicolas Otamendi awarded a penalty after grabbing Mateus Uribe in the face with his elbow. Atalanta striker Luis Muriel stepped forward and scored a penalty in the bottom left corner.
It was then that Lionel Messi came close to restoring Argentina’s two-goal cushion as he saw Ospina pass his free-kick over the goal. The Napoli goalkeeper kept Colombia in the game several times with great saves in the second half.
Lionel Messi was again in the center of action when he passed the ball to Lautel Martines, but the Inter striker’s shot was parried by the stunning Ospina. Both Martines and Messi cut the numbers frustrated by not being able to find the net.
Lionel Messi and Lautaro Martines ’extravagance in front of the goal came back to bite them as Miguel Borja moved away from the marker and Juan Cuadrado sent a free kick to Colombia in the 94th minute to save a point.
As a result of this draw, Argentina is sixth in the table, six points behind Brazil, and Colombia is fifth, just four points behind them.
