WATCH: Armed Atlanta teenager crashes truck into empty building after officers shoot him


A pair of gun-carrying juveniles in Atlanta collided with a stolen Chevrolet Silverado truck into an empty building Nov. 10.

Officers responded to reports of a stolen vehicle in a parking lot in southwest Atlanta, where suspects began to flee from officers.

“While fleeing, Silverado drove to the front of the identified patrol vehicle and the passengers fired at the officers with a handgun,” the Atlanta Police Department said in a Facebook post on Wednesday. “The truck then fled Cascade Avenue and struck the SUV before crashing into an empty building at 804 Cascade Avenue.”

Many officers were dispatched and residents of a stolen vehicle “quickly” trying to hide on a commercial refrigerator unit inside an empty building.

Authorities later took into custody two juvenile suspects – a 16-year-old driver and a 16-year-old passenger – and found a stolen handgun near their hideout.

“None of the officers fired their weapons at the time of the incident and the juveniles suffered minor injuries from a motor vehicle accident,” police said. ‚ÄúThose in the SUV were not seriously injured in the accident.

The driver is charged with aggravated assault, criminal trespassing, receiving stolen auto, theft and fleeing, reckless driving, hit and run, interfering with government property and other charges.

The passenger was previously wanted for aggravated assault and was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a person under the age of 18, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, obstruction, possession of a firearm and reckless conduct.
