Conspicuously missing from their August 2022 wedding in Paris was their son Matteo, 2, who was on hand to bear the couple’s rings.
But there was a perfectly understandable reason for the younger one’s absence.
“He was throwing up,” Bella, 39, told E! Reports added that she and Chaguntsev, 40, were unaware of the situation until they were already at the altar.
“‘The Nutcracker’ plays, and we’re looking down the aisle, and I’m like, ‘Where is he?'” the WWE star recalled when his brother, JJ Garcia, finally Carr put his hand on it and said, “Here are the rings. Matteo’s just, you know, keep getting married.”

The “Total Bellas” alum said she immediately “turned white.”
“We both don’t even remember the ring part because we both kept looking at each other like, ‘Are we terrible parents? Like, putting our rings on, and we’re just told our son is throwing up in the back?’ ” he remembered thinking.
The wrestler-turned-reality star made sure to note that someone took Matteo “back to the hotel” and he’s “fixed” but he’s still “sad” that “that moment isn’t here.”
Her “Dancing With the Stars” pro husband quipped that the toddler must have gotten “too excited” about his ring-carrying duties.
Given that the pair planned their big day in just four weeks – a decision Bella “doesn’t recommend” – they had no choice but to roll with the many punches that came their way.
“For me, when things didn’t work out, I was just like, ‘Whatever, you know, whatever works. [happen] Meant to be,’ and that made it even more magical,” she said, stressing that there was no room for any “bridesmaids or brides”.
Bella and Chigvintsev met while competing together on Season 25 of “DWTS” in 2017, when she was still engaged to John Cena.
She ended her engagement to the WWE Superstar in April 2018 and started dating the ballroom dancer later that year.
The two confirmed their relationship status in early 2019 and got engaged before the end of the year.
They welcomed Mateo in August 2020.

As for her last-minute, unorthodox decision to wear the dress she bought to tie the knot with Cheguntsev when she married Sienna, Bella told Us Weekly last month, “I have gave The moment with this dress… when I saw it. … I was like, ‘Wait, why don’t I wear what I like? Because of my past?’ It just didn’t make sense to me.”
While twin sister Brie Bella didn’t necessarily support the wardrobe choice, the “Nikki Bella Says I Do” star told the outlet that Chguntsev was surprisingly “cool about it.”
